For the past few years Assonautica Provinciale di Savona, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Albisola Superiore, has been engaged in the #inspiaggiasenzafiltri awareness campaign. Within the framework of the European project PORT - 5R for sustainable waste management in Mediterranean ports, in which Assonautica is a partner, the issue of ecology is deeply felt and every opportunity is taken to spread 'good practices.

Starting with the 2021 summer season, Assonautica installed plastic bottles/ashtrays on public-access beaches in the area to urge people to pick up their cigarette butts instead of throwing them on the sand. Also in that year, the practice of “butts collection days” began, because as Assonautica members explain, "with small gestures can be achieved great changes if many people do them.". The initiative has been a great success, involving many associations in the area and prompting the participation not only of Assonautica members, but also of many volunteers, citizens and tourists. A great participation that showed how important the defense of the sea and the marine environment is for many. "Citizens, tourists, Assonautica members, young foreign asylum seekers currently housed in Albisola, all together to collect butts, all united with the goal of spreading good practices".
